Arrival with public transport
At the central stops “Hauptbahnhof”, “Kröpcke” and “Aegidientorplatz” (tram network hubs), there are lifts to the U-Bahn stations. The final stop Messe/Nord is a raised platform. When travelling from the Hauptbahnhof to the fairground, tram line 8 to the fairground’s Nord entrance is ideal for visitors with limited mobility. The new, silver trams run on these routes. These have automatic height regulation at the entrances to ensure that wheelchair users can also board conveniently without the assistance of others. The wide double doors do not have a central pole, and each car has two wheelchair spaces (with folding seats).
Arrival from the airport
Whether arriving and departing with your own car or with a taxi, the drop-off and pick-up options for vehicles are located directly in front of the entrance and exit doors of terminals A, B and C. The doors are wide enough to accommodate wheelchair users, every single one is automatic and level with the ground. The kerbs are lowered at the key transition points. The stop for the airport – exhibition centre shuttle bus which travels between the airport and the main train station is also located directly in front of the terminal building, on the arrivals level between terminals A and B. You can also travel from the airport to the main train station via S-Bahn line 5.
Parking
Some of the paid parking spaces outside of the fairground are reserved as special parking spaces for persons with physical disabilities. These special parking spaces are directly adjacent to each of the open trade fair entrances and their locations are specially indicated for the trade fairs and exhibitions.
